Box Office Predictions: ‘Mockingjay’ Will Hold Off ‘Krampus’

Mockingjay won’t be the only film to hold off Krampus, even as many of the films look to suffer harsh blows coming out of Thanksgiving weekend, where films typically lose at least half from their previous week. Krampus is the only new “wide” release that matters. Freestyle releasing is trying to push out The Letters into 1,000 screens, but with awful reviews and no stars, I can’t imagine people showing up. I mean, Max Von Sydow is a good actor, but when was the last time he was a box office star?

In limited release, Spike Lee opens his controversial Chi-raq, the Oscar contender Youth opens, and Michael Fassbender does his best Macbeth. Oh crap, I said Macbeth. Something bad’s gonna happen now…
