Bowie Seeks Alcohol Licenses for Speciality Grocery Stores

By Ceemac126 @PGCBlogging

Shucks.  I understand.  It’s all about the economy.

In an effort to attract specialty grocers like Harris Teeter and Trader Joes, Maryland state senator Douglas J.J. Peters and other Prince Georges County delegates will soon be submitting legislation on behalf of the Bowie City Council that will allow grocers north of Route 450 to have beer and wine licenses.  I’m sure the 2 Giant groceries, MOMs Organic, and the 3 Safeway groceries in the area will be glad to follow suit.

At the heart of the legislation is the need for Bowie Plaza on Laurel-Bowie Road to gain an anchor store that would bring in more clientele for the entire strip.  Personally, I’d love to have a Trader Joes.  They have great produce and grocery products.
Here’s hoping!
