It has been 18 days since the horrific bombings at the Boston Marathon. There have been many stories of valor and selflessness that occurred in the immediate aftermath of the bombings. Two weeks ago Suspect #2 was captured. As I stated in that post, I refuse to publicize the names of terrorists. I will not give them a platform on this blog to publicize their names or pictures. I also emphasized that we should now remember the victims of this tragedy. We should remember those still struggling to recover and those who will always be struggling to recover.
It saddens me that already it seems the news media has ceased to talk about the victims and/or those injured. Instead we are bombarded with the latest developments in the Jodi Arias trial. It seems like our priorities aren’t skewed.
This week I am dedicating my “praise of the week” to Adrianne Haslet. Adrianne is a professional ballroom dancer who cheered on the sidelines during the race alongside her husband who had just come back from his deployment in Afghanistan. Adrianne’s left foot was amputated as a result of her injuries. ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” featured this segment on their result show this week.
Adrianne’s optimism and determination is tremendously inspiring. It is her attitude that I think best exemplifies the American spirit. Evil people might hurt us, but they will never keep us down. I am not ashamed to admit that I got teary-eyed watching the video. I cannot wait to see her dance on the show. I will keep you updated on her progress.
I hope you found this story as inspirational as I do.
