Story: Borderless Fog starts when a body is discovered on the Indonesian/Malaysian border. It is from two different victims and neither side wants to take full control of the crime, in case it steps on the other’s investigation. Detective Sanja (Marino) leads the investigation from the Indonesian side and finds problems from her side.
The investigation takes Sanja and Thomas (Pratama) into a darker world, where they learn about a mysterious serial killer. It brings out the tensions between the two countries and exposes more of the problems they are facing. Sanja must build bridges between both sides to solve the case, as the bodies start piling up.
Verdict on Borderless Fog
Borderless Fog is a crime thriller following a determined detective hunting a serial. However, the killer is operating between the Indonesian/Malaysian border, creating a host of problems between the two countries.
This movie brings the popular crime story of neighbouring countries dealing with a horrific crime to Indonesia and Malaysia. It uses the tensions between the countries to make solving the crime more difficult while exploring a troubled detective’s past. Everything comes together well, where we have a twisted killer and a difficult crime to solve. The performances are great with Putri Marino shining as the expert detective. This is an interesting story to follow and fits in perfectly we similar ones we have seen over the years.
