Story: Borderlands starts when bounty hunter Lilith (Blanchett) gets a big paying gig on the planet of Pandora. Pandora is notorious for people wasting time hunting for treasure, but she is assigned to find a billionaire Atlas (Ramirez) daughter Tina (Greenblatt). However, once she arrives, she learns something bigger is in play and must team up with Roland (Hart), Krieg (Munteanu) and Claptrap.
The unlikely group must put aside their differences to join the treasure hunt. However, along the way, they learn more about themselves and their place in the universe.
Verdict on Borderlands
Borderlands is an action-adventure following a group of misfits who must search for a missing treasure. However, they face countless enemies and must use their strengths to get out of sticky situations. It follows them learning more about each other and facing off against unlikely enemies.
This movie is the latest video game adaptation that brings to life one of the most popular modern-day games. We get a couple of extremely fun characters in Lilith and Tiny Tina, which are the highlights of the movie. However, the story feels generic and doesn’t do anything we haven’t seen before even if the final act leads to something surprising. Kevin Hart doesn’t bring anything to the role, which felt like it could have been a lot deeper, compared with the rest of the cast who can spice things up a lot with the little they are given. This one proves once again television series are working out better for the deeper storyline games, the action felt rushed and leaves parts feeling empty despite how big the moments seem to be.
Final Thoughts – Borderlands has fun characters but struggles to give us an interesting story.
