Loyal subscribers are well aware that we are big fans of a well-crafted cocktail and will occasionally dabble in the voodoo that we call bartending. While mixing up a quality libation is good fun, gathering those ingredients, blending them all together, and then cleaning up after ourselves can be a royal pain in the tuchus. In other words, we're lazy as hell and would rather have someone else do the heavy lifting while we do ALL the drinking.
One day not so long ago, the answer to our lazy-as-hell cocktailing dreams arrived on our front doorstep...
The fine folks at Dashfire Bitters of Minnetonka, Minnesota have recently launched a line of ready to drink cocktails and were kind enough to send us a sampler pack that contained two of each variety. Here is a bit of information about each of the six cocktails that make up their current line-up:
BOURBON OLD FASHIONED: This ready-to-pour Old Fashioned Cocktail, with its blend of four bitters, natural sugar cane juice, hint of cherry, vanilla, chicory and spirited with bourbon, is about as pleasant an Old Fashioned you can find.ELDERFLOWER MARTINEZ: This Martinez Cocktail is designed to be appreciated by aficionados but also those new to this classic cocktail. This twist on a classic has a pleasant sweetness of pear, tartness of apricot and the subtle aroma of elderflower.FIG & CASCARA MANHATTAN: This ready-to-pour Manhattan Cocktail is made with Rye Whiskey, Cream Sherry & bitters, elevated with the addition of Black Mission Fig, Cascara Cherry, Vanilla and Rhubarb Root.LEMON & LAVENDER MARTINI: This ready-to-pour Martini stands apart from the rest. With subtle sweetness and an elegant aroma from lemon and lavender bitters, this is a classic with a twist.POMEGRANATE EL PRESIDENTE: This ready-to-pour El Presidente Cocktail is one of very few high-proof rum cocktails out there. Egbert's version of this classic Cuban Cocktail has house-made grenadine, made from pure pomegranate juice, and cane sugar.CHAI WHITE RUSSIAN: This ready-to-pour White Russian is just plain fun and a joy to imbibe. Made from Vodka, Midwest Heavy Cream, and the already beautiful botanicals of their Chai'Walla bitters. On today's episode of A Tasting at The Murder Table, we picked two of the above cocktails and give them the full BoozeDancing TV treatment. One more thing...
On New Year's Eve, we had a little gathering with our neighbors and shared what remained of the twelve canned cocktails. While there were one or two concoctions that some of us didn't care for (I found the Lemon & Lavender Martini to be way too lavendery and couldn't get the thought of Yardley English Lavender Body Wash out of my head), overall, these drinks were very well received and we're all hoping that they find their way to the New Jersey liquor store shelves real soon! Hell, The Wookie liked them so much that he even tweeted about them...
Thanks to @boozedancing for kicking off the New Year with @DashfireBitters Ready-to-Drink Cocktails. They were literally intoxicatingly delicious. Only question is when will we get distribution to NYC, NJ, PA, or online so we can continue to enjoy these tiny potant potables?
