#BookshopDay Our Favourite #London Bookshops No.1 Stanford's @StanfordsTravel
By Lwblog @londonwalksDC Editor Adam writes…
I've been asking my London Walks colleagues to nominate their favorite London Bookshops and I'll be sharing their recommendations here on The Daily Constitutional. Be sure to ask them for directions to their favorite bookshops at the end of their London Walks tours!
LW guide Richard IV writes…
It's got to be Stanford's on Long Acre - the Sherlock Holmes walk passes nearby. Holmes went to them (at their previous address, admittedly) to get his map of Dartmoor in The Hound of the Baskervilles and Conan Doyle used them for the excellent maps created for his History of the Boer War.
Richard IV
Richard IV is an actor, swordsman and an expert on early detective fiction. His velvety voice and perfect timing make for some awfully handsome listening on his Sherlock Holmes walk! No surprise to learn that he's narrated numerous documentaries and audiobooks.
Listen to Richard on The London Walks Podcast… … and join his In the Footsteps of Sherlock Holmes tour every Friday at 2pm meeting at Embankment tube. • Catch up with an earlier Daily Constitutional post from Richard – The Five Best Sherlock Holmes Stories
