Synopsis

One broken down elevator. A deal between “friends.” A sweeping love that can no longer be denied.

I’ve been cheated on three times, and I am done with men.

So when my elevator breaks down on my way to a job interview that will finally get me out of the same office as my unfaithful ex, I refuse to think of the handsome stranger next to me as a possibility. Even though that triangle of skin where his tie should be makes me sweat.

When Charles Sinclair seeks me out to return a hair bow I lost in my mad dash to my interview, he makes me an offer I can’t refuse. No strings. No feelings. No pain.

But as our little arrangement intensifies, we start relying on each other, confiding in one other.

Our deal was supposed to be honest, stress-free fun.

If I tell him how I feel, he’ll end things. If I don’t, I’ll be lying to him.

He was clear with me from the beginning, that between work and caring for his ailing mother, he doesn’t have the time for something more. Yet he’s proven to me time and time again that he’ll show up for me. He’ll listen when I need to talk. Hold me when I need touch. And not once has he lied to me.

He’s scared of love leaving him heartbroken.

But what he doesn’t seem to realize is that we’re already in deep.

My Thoughts

‘Things We’ve Lost and Found’ is the debut novel by Ally Williams and reading this book you would have no clue that this was her first novel.  The writing with the main characters, Annabel and Charlie, was top notch and I couldn’t see them done any other way.  Ally was able to write these two with such growth on an individual level and as a couple, I found it hard to put the book down to go to sleep.  Even with the side characters she was able to give them a purpose to the story and weave them in at the right moments.  Besides just the characters what I loved when I was reading ‘Things We’ve Lost and Found’ was how everyone in life is connected to someone in some way.  It’s a good example of how people are in our lives for our whole lives or maybe just a season to help us become who we are meant to be.

I will say when I was reading the book I was not thinking the spice level would be there. Boy, this is a good time I was wrong.  There were a few spicy moments, and Ally knew how to write them so well, making the heat jump off the pages.  You will feel this heat right away when Annabel and Charlie meet for the first time and each time they see each other the temp sure does rise.

The spice level in this book is a solid two.  There weren’t a lot of spicy scenes in the book to raise it above that but the story that ‘Things We’ve Lost and Found’ tells is so great you don’t need the spice to love this book.  For the whole book, it’s getting a good 4-star rating from me.

The thing that made me sad was when I was finishing the book.  There were other characters I wanted to know more about what would happen to them.  Well, I don’t need to worry because this was book one in the Love and City Lights series and Ally just announced book two called, ‘Things We Used To Believe’ will be released on March 31, 2024.

In the meantime, I recommend grabbing your copy of ‘Things We’ve Lost and Found’ wherever you get your books when it is released on December 15th.  And if you are a Kindle Unlimited member this book will be included in your membership and you can pre-order your copy here.

**I would like to thank Ally Williams for the ARC copy of this book. Getting the ARC Copy did not influence my thoughts on the book as they are all my own.**
