1/2Synopsis
Ridge had closed himself off after his failed marriage, devoting himself solely to raising his kids as a single dad. The last thing this ruggedly handsome rancher needed was a pretty college girl like Emma upending his carefully constructed solitude. But from the moment the restless whirlwind arrived on his doorstep, her nervous energy and long legs made him feel more alive than he had in years.
Though Ridge knew getting involved with the younger, innocent Emma could only lead to heartbreak, her shy smiles and impassioned rants gradually dissolved the walls around his heart. Watching her effortlessly bond with his children terrified him…because he was powerless to stop himself from falling for this beautiful, overwhelming hurricane of a woman.
Emma’s mind raced at a frenetic pace thanks to her ADHD, leaving a trail of shattered expectations from men who couldn’t handle her intensity. Until Ridge. Despite his outward brusqueness, the brooding rancher’s deep green eyes and steady presence calmed her restless spirit in a way she’d never known. For once, she didn’t need to dull her vibrant authenticity—Ridge accepted every chaotic, overwhelming part of her.
Though he insisted he wanted no relationship, Emma couldn’t resist the undeniable pull of Ridge’s rugged handsomeness and controlled strength. Could this whirlwind free spirit truly have a chance with the stoic, gorgeous rancher? Or was she risking yet another broken heart by daring to love a man who might never appreciate the force of nature she is?
My Thoughts
I was lucky enough to read Kate Anderson’s newest book ‘The Vineyard Crush’. This book had the typical I’m not good enough or too young thinking from Emma. I did like when Ridge was telling her that he did want the relationship when it got to a certain point and then even said he likes how she is and doesn’t think she needs to change. I loved that, but I did think the I’m too young/not good enough went on for a little too long. That is a different thing from her mother who seemed to always put her down and wanted her to be in an arranged marriage.
While things did turn around a little bit in the relationship between the two, I still am not a fan of the mother and her whole treatment of Emma left a sour taste in my mouth. The plus side to the family relationship was Emma’s relationship with her brothers. I enough seeing them come in and out of the story and the relationship they all had together.
‘The Vineyard Crush’ had a lot of good but it felt lackluster for me which is why I am going to give this book 3.5 stars. While the story lacked luster there was no third-act breakup and just okay the spice was good. The Spice Level is a solid 3.
