I… Just…. Bah!
I feel like I am on a streak of things I really really want to read more of, but they just aren’t what I wanted.
This plot though not the most original thing in all the world, could have been good. Two warring faerie clan’s, the daughter of one just wanting to set all the faeries free must venture out into the human world to try and accomplish that wish.
I wanted actual fae action in a story that was about fae! We however didn’t get anything until the final kind of battle at the end of the book. We spend virtually zero time in faerie land. We even start off the book in the mortal world. I did not pick up this book because I wanted to read about the mortal world. We get lots of glimpses and back story about the faeries Through Elora telling Taylor a story about them, but I did not care at all. I was not attached or really interested in anything that was being said because it was about a place that I wanted to be in but wasn’t.
Another point that greatly annoyed me was the fact that the actual storyline was not really what I was promised. I was hoping for great fae plot and warring with the romance splashed in to make things spicier. Nope. Pretty much zero fae plot (which didn’t really make sense most the time) and was all insta love. 80% of the book was Elora and Taylor struggling with their love for each other but never doing anything about it.
All the side characters are one dimensional and cliche. The mortal villain is the school bully, there is a vegan goth who is head of the LGB club at school, and the gay guy hates everyone and is the school outcast. We also have the super bitchy girl who mocks the LGB club but is actually gay herself. Taylor and Elora were better, but I still didn’t give any of a damn about them.
I will not be recommending this book to anyone.
