Review:
The first book of this series wasn’t able to entertain me that much, so I wasn’t really expecting something from this book. And deym! Right at its first page, I instantly got hooked to this story. It started quite differently from the first book and I really love the suspense and mystery it exudes, which makes my reading experience more enjoyable than what I’ve expected.
This story started with what the first book left of. Just like the first book, it also composed mostly of the characters POV, and I really really like that. Though, sometimes I’m still having a hard time getting used to the author’s way of shifting the character’s POV, it still didn’t hinder me to enjoy this story. I love to get acquainted with the characters especially to Ringer, and this book didn’t disappoint me at all.
This story has a lot of revelations that a “mere mortal” like me find it hard to contain. I don’t want to spoil the suspense, so I’ll leave it to you to find out. And those revelations really turned my world upside down, like I was riding a ferris wheel. Deym!

Aside from the suspense, mystery and thrill this story contains, I also love the fact that the author added a little romance in it. It wasn’t corny nor cliché, but deym, how should I say it? Well, I can’t really think straight right now so I’m not sure how to describe it, I’m still having a book hangover ya know, haha. But seriously, this book is really worth your while and I can’t really wait to read the third book and get the answers to all my questions and clear all my confusions.
It’s the first series from Rick Yancey that I’ve read but I think I am starting to like it. Reading his books remind me of reading a riddle, I don’t specifically like it, but I think when I start reading the third book, I’ll get used to it and who knows, I might stalk him after that, haha. This story composed of a handful of terms or words that I am not familiar with, but so far, it didn’t annoy me.
I may not have been that “into” science fiction slash alien invasion, but I really adore the author because he didn’t make this story just about it, but he added some twists and turns that I didn’t expected this story to have. All its characters was properly introduced and their roles and lines we’re properly executed. It’s not really a romance story, but it still managed to made me fall in love with its characters and squeal in delight. (insert another deafening squeal here) I know it’s not the right atmosphere, but I’ve got to tell you that Evan Walker will be added to my list. Haha sucker.

When I finished this story, I was mentally struggling whether I should give it a 4-star rating or a 5. Eventhough I haven’t skipped a lot of times in this story like what I did to the first book, I was still confused on some riddles this story contains, so that’s what I’ve based my stars with. So yeah, instead of 5, I am giving this story a 4-star rating, besides, I still have the third book to read *wink.
And deym! I really really really as in so in love with the ending. I think there’s no better way to end this review than to give you a glimpse with its ending and let’s see what you’ll do afterwards haha *wink.
