They say that your school years are supposed to be the best years of your life, and that you should make the most of them because you’ll miss them when you’re all grown up. Up until Maisie Preston’s senior year, she would have totally agreed with that statement. Life was great, she had everything going for her, excellent grades, great parents, an annoying yet caring twin brother, and an impossibly sweet boyfriend.
Everything was perfect – that is until the arrival of Zach Anderson. A misfit delinquent that seemed to bring with him a lot of bad karma. Review:
I’ve been feeling tired lately. I thought it was because I am stressed out with work, but when I accidentally read a few paragraph from this story, it dawn on me that I just need a dose of a good book. It’s been a week since I’ve last read and made me hate work even more. In that instant, I decided to continue reading this book and get on with it, which mind you, left me awake at almost 2:00 am so I could finish this story. It’s just too intense that it won’t let me sleep peacefully without knowing what’s gonna happen to its main characters next. And to get even more exciting, the next day is Monday (which is today, haha, the day it’s posted) and I obviously have work haha. Well, f*ck work, f*ck sidelines, and f*ck online school, coz today, I am living a different life. *wink
After reading a few more pages from this story, a question reached my mind on why I am reading this again? I mean, unlike other stories, this one started, mmm.. how should I say it?.. it started too…cheesy? I mean, it’s obvious these two couple can’t get their hands off with each other; I even thought it’s not going to be about teenage romance. But it was answered immediately when Massie’s (main female character) mother enters her room to wish her happy birthday and even found out that her “hiding” boyfriend spent the night in. As the story goes, their love for each other is too much that I even think that I had a bugos copy. That part should have been in the last chapter instead on its first chapter right? So to confirm my guess, I broke my rule and read the sypnosis of this book. I just found out that it’s the second book of Always You (Riley and Clay) and I can’t believe that this information didn’t even reached me!
After reading the sypnosis, I was enlightened and continue reading this book, good thing Zack (insert deafening squeal here) came in just in time for me to be diagnosed with an overdosed of “cheesy syndrome”. And in that instant, this story became more interesting, ayeiii.
I don’t usually get excited when I read a jock male character, I’m not athletic so it’s kinda hard for me connect with them. What usually got my interest are musicians, especially those who play drums or guitar, but my all time favorite are bad boys. Remember the Talk Back And Your Dead trilogy and She’s Dating The Gangster? Haha, sucker. I don’t know what I like about stories like them, but I suspected that they have that “magical” magnet in them, that every time they’re around, they just pulled me to them. (haha, now I sounded cheesy)
Everything’s going great because of Zack’s arrivals and to the fact that Massie have a twin brother. Isn’t that fun? I love twins especially identical twins of different genders. And the brother being so protective with his twin sister? Total winner!
I don’t want to talk about this story in complete order because this review might become a total spoiler and I don’t want that. I want you to enjoy this story like I did. I want you to experience the excitement that I felt and the deafening beat of my heart whenever Zack make a move or did something interesting especially to Massie. Imagine a bad boy who knows how to cook? And do a cool stunt like that? Isn’t that a total turn on? OMG! I am doing it again, haha. Sorry guys, I’m really this talkative when I like someone, and I know you know who that “someone” is, haha.
I actually have almost 50 things that I wrote in my note about this story, most of them actually about Zack, haha. And they all screams “spoiler alert” so I’m not going to share them in here just to be safe. *wink
Well, basing on the sypnosis above, I first assumed that Zack is a freshman student. Good thing he’s not eh? Hehe. All of my doubts and questions about this story disappeared which made me gave this story a raging five-star rating. The style of this story is new to me, I even think that I’ve got a bogus copy because it started with a “supposedly” happy ending right? And above all, I love that the author added suspense and mystery in it. That was a surprise because I’ve been reading books from Kirsty Moseley and all of them are about romance with some twists. I’ve read one with suspense, but it didn’t let me guess like sh*t like what this story did to me. I can go on and on about how I love this story ya know, but I’m afraid you might fall asleep because it’s going to be long. So to cut it short, this story is worth every stars I’ve lit. (Hint: Sorry Zack for ever doubting you, ya know I love ya, mwahh)
The characters were great. I might have hate both Massie and Luke (the jock) a little (Massie’s boyfriend) because of their “electrifying” love to each other that can be gross sometimes but all of the characters (especially the two mentioned) in this story appeared so real to me. Like Kirsty’s other books, this story will also give you some life lesson you can ponder into. What a jam-packed book eh?
The story’s plot, scenes, and executions of lines were superb. I wasn’t even able to find some flaws in this story, no questionable scenes or lines, and all seems perfect. The words used in this story are so easy to comprehend too, so those long-press thingy (kindle and moon reader users can obviously relate) isn’t necessary at all.
As you can read above, this book is really worth it. Read it and be ready to fall in love.
