Description/Synopsis:

Mackenzie “Max” Miller has a problem. Her parents have arrived in town for a surprise visit, and if they see her dyed hair, tattoos, and piercings, they just might disown her. Even worse, they’re expecting to meet a nice, wholesome boyfriend, not a guy named Mace who has a neck tattoo and plays in a band. All her lies are about to come crashing down around her, but then she meets Cade.

Cade moved to Philadelphia to act and to leave his problems behind in Texas. So far though, he’s kept the problems and had very little opportunity to take the stage. When Max approaches him in a coffee shop with a crazy request to pretend to be her boyfriend, he agrees to play the part. But when Cade plays the role a little too well, they’re forced to keep the ruse going. And the more they fake the relationship, the more real it begins to feel.

Review – MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

Cade is an idiot.

That being said I did like this book but I didn’t like it as much as the first one. I had a few issues with it.

I liked the concept of pretending people are dating, I liked that part of it. I loved the moment when they first met, it was funny as hell. Cade is alot more chipper (when Bliss isn’t mentioned) and Max just kind of freaks out when he acts like a gentleman and that he isn’t actually lying about himself when her parents come. Makes for some great reactions. I think my favourite one is when Cade hugs her mother willingly. It was pretty damn funny.

I just didn’t like the people so much.

Cade was pretty much just bitching the entire time cause of Bliss, then he magically doesn’t care about her at all anymore. Yeah, you really truly loved her didn’t you you big fat idiot. At one point he tells Max that he was still too hurt to show her this song he wrote, then the next sentence was him singing the song to her. Gah. He was just so annoying.

And the fact that he decided that he couldn’t be friends with Bliss anymore?! I mean what the hell, she didn’t do anything and you got over her the second some random started talking to you so I really don’t get it. People shouldn’t be able to throw away people that were supposed to be their best friend so easy. Plus, Bliss is just better, he should be glad she gave him anytime whats so ever!

Also, Max had ‘sad and life changing past’ that turned her into this thing we see today. I didn’t connect with that past at all though. It mostly just annoyed me when it came up cause it felt really forced. Does that make me cold? Ah I don’t care…

So yeah, unless you feel you need to read this one, I would skip it. Cade was better in the first book and this might wreck it for you.

Till Next Time…
