- AVERAGE NOOK -Hmm... Something is missing... But I will give Book 2 a chance...
Enchanted Inc. is a very light read that is best enjoyed on a relaxing night after a long and busy day. It is like Sex in the City (without the "sex"), Alias (without the espionage), FRIENDS (without the crazy) and Harry Potter (without Hogwarts and Dumbledor, though it has Merlin, so I guess that makes it King Arthur...) all rolled into one. It's fun and a bit intriguing.
I like it. I like Katie. I like the magic and MSI. There is just something missing for me to be truly enchanted by Enchanted Inc. I just can't pin point the exact reason why. I also think that the world building is pretty wispy with many loose ends. An good example of a loose end in the story will be the former frog "princes". -When and how did they end up cursed? What happened with their lives after they were rescued from a lifetime of eating insects (aside from dating Katie's roommates)? Do they work? How about the guy who seemed to have been cursed a few decades ago? Is his family still around? And many other similar questions. Well, I guess, it is just not as air-tight as I preferred.
Having said all that, I will still read the second book of this series, Once Upon Stilettos. I will give it a chance because I want to find out if Katie will work it out with a certain "heart breaker" wizard or with the "immune" lawyer who, like her, is living a double life between the mundane and the magical worlds. I also want to read more about the story's modern Merlin. -Will he learn the all about the internet? Will he sign-up on Facebook?
As I said, I was not enchanted but I'm a bit intrigued.
