BLURB FROM THE COVER

Although Bram Stoker is best known for his world-famous novel Dracula, he also wrote many shorter works on the strange and the macabre. This collection, comprising Dracula’s Guest and Other Weird Stories, a volume of spine-chilling short stories collected and published by Stoker’s widow after his death, and The Lair of the White Worm, an intensely intriguing novel of myths, legends and unspeakable evil, demonstrate the full range of his horror writing. From the petrifying open tomb in ‘Dracula’s Guest’ to the mental breakdown depicted in ‘The Judge’s House’ and ‘Crooken Sands’, these terrifying tales of the uncanny explore the boundaries between life and death, known and unknown, animal and human, dream and reality.

REVIEW

GENERAL IMPRESSION

I thought this was a very good collection of stories. There was some stand out pieces including Dracula’s Guest. The Judge’s House, The Squaw and The Burial of the Rats. The other tales were strong and well written. I enjoyed this collection.

DRACULA’S GUEST: This was a great story, creepy and atmospheric as hell.

THE JUDGE’S HOUSE: Another great story. I’ll never think of rats the same way again.

THE SQUAW: Another great story. I knew there was a reason I didn’t like cats.

THE SECRET OF THE GROWING GOLD: Not quite as good as the first three stories but well-written and disturbing.

A GIPSY PROPHECY: I thought this was the weakest story in the whole collection.

THE COMING OF ABEL BEHENNA: I liked this story. Good use of tension.

THE BURIAL OF THE RATS: Great story. Creepy and unsettling.

A DREAM OF RED HANDS: I liked this story but not as much as some of the others.

CROOKEN SANDS: Great atmosphere. Okay story.
