Once upon a…hot cowboy
–
Loan sharks are circling, I’ve got my dad’s hospital bills to pay, and my landlord is about to kick me out onto the street.
It’s all doom and gloom until my best friend, Jesse, tells me that she’s found me a job impersonating the famous hotel heiress, Tamara Honeywell.
I get to live on a ranch in Montana for a month and take care of all my money worries. The only snag is I’ll have to have my lips injected, and act like a spoilt, demanding, selfish brat. but, what the hell? Collagen is temporary, and I can act like the world’s most bitchy heiress for a month.Until I see the jaw-droppingly handsome cowboy who comes to collect me. All flashing eyes, sun drenched skin, steely muscles…and spitting venom. Oops, he can’t stand talentless celebrities. Absolutely hates them. Damn, he looks like he wants to put me over his knee and spank me.
This is going to be interesting!
Review
I’ve read Cinderella two days ago but it’s just now that I finally had time to write my review since I’ve been pretty occupied with my Hiragana lesson , hehe.
When I was offered to review this book, I was really intrigued by the title. Cinderella is my favorite of all the Disney princesses so that wasn’t a surprise, plus I love retellings too. But when I read the sypnosis, I was surprised since I never anticipated the twist plus the addition of a hot cowboy aka Prince Charming. I haven’t read romance story with a cowboy as a hero before so I decided that I should read this.
As you can read on the sypnosis above, Cass needs to impersonate as the famous hotel heiress, Tamara Honeywell. Impersonating to be someone else is a well-known idea in some books and movies, so what I am looking forward to this story is to find out how the author will write this one without losing my attention.
I have to say that while reading the first chapter, I already have an idea that I will like this one, and I was right. I love the writing style of the author and I also love that there’s no frustrating and annoying scenes (unless you include Tamara’s cunning and b*tchy behaviour). The idea of impersonating may be a bit cliche but I love all the scenes especially the romantic scenes between Lars and Cass.
And speaking of Lars and Cass, I really really really love the first half of this story. I’m always up for bantering between the main characters, and since Cass needs to act rude, mean and b*tchy, it can’t be avoided that they’ll clash since Lars hates celebrities, especially those with an attitude. The second half was still good but it’s just a bit too mushy for my taste.
I don’t have anything against Cass but I have to say that the character that stood up for me was Lars. It’s not because he’s sexy as heck but because he’s so prince charming material. My! I can’t count how many times I was impressed with how he acted or what he said to Cass. He’s just too good to be true.
Cass was obviously a damsel in distress because of the loans she needs to pay, which always piling up each day, but I appreciate that the author didn’t made her character annoying. I like that her character can be spunky sometimes and never backs down especially during her first day at Montana, where Lars instructed her to clean all the horse’s poo lol.
I honestly like this story, the only thing that I would have want to change would be to minimize the number of sexy scenes, it’s just a bit too much for my taste lol.
As expected, Cinderella .com didn’t disappoint and gave us a sweet HEA. I also love that the author added the part on what happened at the masquerade ball after Cass left. My! That was indeed Cinderella-like lol.
This was my first time reading a story from River Laurent and I have to say that I’m quite impressed.
If you want a Cinderella-like story with a modern twist, then Cinderella.com is perfect for you.
