From Sand + Lace: “The concept for this shoot was born on a rainy day somewhere during the Dutch Spring. Living partly in the Netherlands I was desperately seeking for a little sunshine and initially came up with a tropical theme executed in Greece, where I plan weddings. Along the way a bit of the tropical vibe sticked, but the location definitely gave it a raw, bohemian edge. My heart starts to beat a bit faster when I am able to mix different styles at unusual locations like at this hidden beach at Legraina, just 45 minutes from the Athens city centre, where I choose to create a bohemian cliffside elopement with a tropical touch. Around Athens there are so many amazing beaches, especially if you take your car a drive towards Sounio. You will experience a different world and a tranquility that isn’t city-like at all! I am sure that you will get inspired by the beautiful beaches, cultural history, stunning sunsets and turquoise waters. When I contacted each vendor if they wanted to be part of this shoot, they all gave me a resounding yes. I couldn’t be more happier with this dream team – they are the very best out there! When also the beautiful models, Yiannis and Zoe, committed themselves to this shoot it felt complete. At a day in late July, I arrived early in the morning at the location of the shoot. The blue water was so still and the beauty of the surroundings really left me mesmerized and speechless.”

“The color palette that I used for this shoot consists out of different natural colors like off white, brown, lush green with a touch of silver and turquoise. The tone was definitely set with the cliffside picnic and the DIY ceremony tipi, looking out over the blue Aegean. The colors of the surroundings and the colors of the table set up really complimented each other. Studio7 provided me with lush green tropical leaves, pink mini pineapples and coconuts, all beautifully captured by the talented Paulina from Paulina Weddings Crete…”

“The stationery was created by Francien from the Sparkle Company. She used different watercolor shades of blue and created something bohemian and playful at the same time. Zazoo Event Rentals provided us with the small bamboo picnic tables and pillows, which created a cozy atmosphere. The cakes and desserts are created by Alex from Pavlov’s Lab. He is one of the most talented persons I know – a true artist! Each tropical fruit was placed on the cake with so much patience and eye for detail. The fact that the cakes are suspended makes it even more magical!”

“Lovely Greek bridal designer Vasia Tzotzopoulou designed this stunning and sensual wedding dress which is made out of a very soft and delicate fabric that is lifted by even the slightest touch of air. Vasia creates dresses with great love for the female body, using soft fabrics and lace to embrace the brides sensuality. The gorgeous Italian suit is provided by Tailor Italian Wear with the sandy color matching perfectly to dress and to the surroundings. Irene Chaleli, make-up artist, created a natural, dewy look on the models and Vassilis Diamantopoulous, hairstylist, made sure that the hair was styled in a natural way also to manifest and carry out the bohemian, free spirited vibe. When we catched the ‘golden hour’ and finished up shooting after 9pm, we looked at each other and probably all felt the same rewarding feeling: the vision that we had, really came to live!”
