This USMC “Phrog” from HMM-163 (NAS Miramar) descends for landing at the Hiller Aviation Museum Vertical Challenge helicopter airshow.  In 1966, HMM-163 began painting “Evil Eyes” on their helicopters.  The Sea Knight was operated by the Marines to provide all-weather, day-or-night assault transport of combat troops, supplies and equipment.  In service from 1964-2015, the USMC CH-46 has now been replaced by the MV-22 Osprey.  The US Navy retired their Sea Knights in 2004.
