Air Force One seen on final approach to Moffett Federal Airfield. This is one of two modified Boeing 747s designated VC-25A by the USAF, highly modified versions of the Boeing 747-200B. The fabrication of these aircraft began during the presidency of Ronald Reagan (1981–1989) and completed in 1986 and first flown in 1987. Problems with communication systems wiring delayed delivery of the two aircraft until 1990. Two replacement aircraft, based on the Boeing 747-8I and designated VC-25B, are expected to be delivered in 2027. Air Force One is the call sign of any U.S. Air Force aircraft carrying the President of the United States.
