Smoke from a pyrotechnic blast created a dramatic backdrop for this Stearman belonging to airshow pilot Vicky Benzing, one of the featured performers at the Central Coast Airfest. Introduced as a trainer aircraft in 1934, over 10,000 were built in the 30’s and 40’s and many survive today. Vicky’s Stearman was delivered in 1940 for military flight training use. In February of 1946 this airplane was sold from the War Assets Administration for $770. Nikon D500 w/18-200 mm.
