Boeing Model 40C

@ Watsonville, CA

May 2009

First flown in 1925, the Boeing Model 40 was the first aircraft built by the Boeing company to carry passengers. The Model 40C could carry four passengers in relative comfort while the pilot had an open cockpit. These single-engined biplanes were used widely for airmail services in the 1920s and 1930s. This one, flown in tot he 2009 Watsonville Fly-In, is the only airworthy example and also holds the title of the oldest flying Boeing aircraft. In 2017 this aircraft was acquired by the Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum in Hood River, Oregon. Nikon D300 w/80-200mm.
