A Growler makes a high-speed pass at the 2022 California Capital Airshow, creating shockwaves with vapor beginning to form. Vapor can sometimes form around an aircraft moving at high speed through moist air at transonic speeds.  Parts of the aircraft may be supersonic while others remain subsonic, causing shockwaves to form. Across these shockwaves there is ‘discontinuity’ in the local air pressure and temperature. This causes the air to lose its capacity to hold water and condensation starts to form, creating the vapor cone.  The Growler electronic warfare aircraft is a specialized version of the two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet.
