The Open House Airshow at Edwards AFB is always worthwhile due to the availability of test aircraft based there.  The 2009 show was the last one I attended and gave me an opportunity to photograph the “BUFF” in flight. First flown in 1952, this iconic warplane  is expected to serve into the 2040s.  Superior performance at high subsonic speeds and relatively low operating costs have kept the B-52 in service despite the advent of newer, more advanced aircraft.  As of 2013, 78 of the original 744 B-52 aircraft were operational in the U.S. Air Force.  Nikon D300 w/80-200mm, processed with Aperture.
