Built in 1944, this B-29 served with the Strategic Air Command and saw action during the Korean War before being transferred to China Lake in 1956 to become a stationary target.  In 1985, the B-29 was rescued, dismantled and loaded into a C-5 for the flight to the Travis AFB Aviation Museum.  After ten years and 120,000 volunteer restoration hours, the bomber was put on public display as “Miss America 62”.  Of the 3,970 B-29s built, approximately 22 complete B-29’s are currently on display in the United States.
