During my visit to the 2011 Andrews AFB Joint Services Open House, I was fortunate to see ‘FIFI’, the restored airworthy B-29 of the Commemorative Air Force. Operated by the CAF since 1974, a successful fundraising effort led to the re-engining of this valuable aircraft from 2008-2010. She was delivered in Of the 3,970 B-29 bombers that were built during World War II, FIFI is the only B-29 in the world that’s currently capable of flight.
