The 777-200 ER was the second variant introduced in February 1997. Thirty-three customers received 422 deliveries with 338 still in service.  Japan Airlines operates 11 of these extended range models in their fleet.  This aircraft bears the logo of a unique environmental initiative called the CONTRAIL (Comprehensive Observation Network for Trace gases by an Airliner) Project. This aircraft is one of four 777-200ERs in the JAL fleet installed with equipment for measuring atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases (GHGs). A British Airways 777-200ER set the subsonic record for the fastest New York to London at 5 hours and 16 minutes (due to strong tail winds). Fuji XE-2S w/18-55mm.
