This Boeing 767-200, named “The Spirit of Delta” holds center stage at the Delta Flight Museum located adjacent to Hartsfield International Airport. The 767-200 was the original model to go into production and entered service with United Airlines in 1982. That same year, after 35 consecutively profitable years, Delta posted a net loss. On December 15, 1982, over 7,000 employees and friends presented the airline with its first 767 ,”Ship 102″, christened “The Spirit of Delta.” Directly after the dedication ceremony, Ship 102 left Atlanta on its inaugural service flight to Tampa, Florida. Ship 102 was retired on February 12, 2006, after flying 70,697 hours and 34,389 flights and added to the Museum collection that May. The 767 is the first twinjet wide-body type to reach 1,000 aircraft delivered.  As of February 2022, Boeing has received 1,346 orders for the 767 from 74 customers with 1,240 delivered.
