November 2017

This sight of a United jumbo jet climbing out after takeoff will not be repeated, at least not for revenue flights. Since the January 2017 announcement by United to phase out the 747, the swan song was this last revenue flight of the type on November 7, 2017. Over 47 years of service, United’s fleet of 747 aircraft numbered 88 in total spread out over four variants. December 2017 marked the end of passenger service with 747s on any U.S. carrier. The United long-haul fleet will use newer, more efficient twin-engined aircraft. Nikon D500 w/Tamron 150-600mm.
