October 2017

This sight of a United jumbo jet taking off that will not be repeated, at least not for revenue flights.  Since the January 2017 announcement by United to phase out the 747, the number in service had been drawing down steadily, marked by the very last revenue flight of the 747 on November 7, 2017.  The United long-haul fleet will use newer, more efficient twin-engined aircraft.
