It was nice to be back at a European airport and be surrounded by 747 aircraft. Lufthansa operates eight of these older 747-400 aircraft, along with 19 of the newer -8I (Intercontinental) models. With close to 700 produced (1988-2009), the 747-400 is the best-selling model of the Boeing 747 family of airliners. Frankfurt Airport (FRA) serves as the main hub for Lufthansa and is the busiest German airport and the 4th busiest European airport.
