May 2023

Caught this elaborately decorated Alaska 737 at SeaTac Airport, waiting to take a load of passengers to Anchorage (myself included).  Unveiled in May 2023, this livery (named Xáat Kwáani “Salmon People”) is the first to depict salmon in an Alaskan Native art form and was created by Alaskan Native artist Crystal Worl. The art style is Northwest Coast formline art, with the salmon design honoring salmon, culture, artistic expression, and language. The Boeing 737 Next Generation is the −600/-700/-800/-900 series of the venerable Boeing 737 airliner.  The most common variant is the -800, a stretched version of the 737-700. Over 5,000 of these Next-Gen 737s have been delivered and it is the most widely used narrowbody aircraft worldwide.
