The story of Bob Marley and how he overcame adversity and propelling himself to become a reggae icon, with his revolutionary music.
⭐️⭐️
Considering Bob Marley died in 1981 his legacy is still very much talked about and the impact he had on attempting to unite the world and in particular his homeland of Jamaica. Something that was a very difficult task throughout the 60s and 70s. We get glimpses of how difficult this was and how he was trying to live a true life while also enjoying himself.
I have to admit that before going into the film I didn’t really know much about Bob Marley and wasn’t really sure if I was actually going to make the cinema trip to see it. However, I decided that it could be a good idea but I don’t really feel like I learnt very much about how influential Marley really was as the film was very pedestrian and somehow the 1 hour and 47 minute runtime felt like an extra hour was thrown on top of it with the slow pace.
The lack of music throughout the film was another disappointing factor, we were only given small teasers of songs and I felt as though that was something that we needed to see so much more of from start to finish. Surely the legacy of Bob Marley deserved more than this film?
