Board Game Night: Waddington's Go – A Vintage Classic

DC Editor Adam writes… So last night’s Board Game Night saw Go - the vintage travel board game - take center stage…

The object of the game is to race around the world collecting souvenirs – first one back to London is the winner!

We thought it would be an ironically funny way of spending a couple of hours in the middle of lockdown and a travel ban. We’d forgotten just how ironic it would be…
Not exactly what we'd hoped for when trying to take our minds off things.

We picked up our set online a few years ago – a quick glance on eBay shows that you can pick up an old set for £10-£20, in usable condition. Mint-condition sets for collectors can go for upwards of £50, but where’s the fun in that? A collection of games you’re not allowed to play with?
It’s a great one for kids with plenty of teachable moments amid the fun - calculating currency exchange rates and understanding basic geography. Having said that our daughter had never heard of Francs, Marks and Lira before – and we’d almost forgotten them too. I’m not sure how old our set is but Waddingtons first marketed it back in 1961. 
We had a lot of fun, despite an unexpected pitch invasion…

… and a tail-in-the-Bureax-De-Change incident…
