We picked up our set online a few years ago – a quick glance on eBay shows that you can pick up an old set for £10-£20, in usable condition. Mint-condition sets for collectors can go for upwards of £50, but where’s the fun in that? A collection of games you’re not allowed to play with?

It’s a great one for kids with plenty of teachable moments amid the fun - calculating currency exchange rates and understanding basic geography. Having said that our daughter had never heard of Francs, Marks and Lira before – and we’d almost forgotten them too.

I’m not sure how old our set is but Waddingtons first marketed it back in 1961. 
We had a lot of fun, despite an unexpected pitch invasion…
