Bloody Hell. It's a Long Weekend.

By Bluestalking @Bluestalking

Hitting the wall today. It didn't take long. During the week, when life's busy and the kids are running to school, bravery's a whole hell of a lot easier. When it gets to the weekend - especially a long, holiday weekend - the sunny skies are unbearably bright and all I want is to curl up in bed and sleep.

Compared to those who've served our country, and the people who love them, their losses and sacrifices - up to and including the ultimate, though sometimes the living hell of survival is worse - my unemployment is less than nothing.

Compared to radical Muslims carving up an off-duty British member of the military, it's all but moot.

Compared to innocents dying, humanity eroding, tongues tied because of political correctness... All less than nothing.

Maybe it's in the darkness that character's made but I sure as hell don't know if it's worth it. No one needs the platitudes, the verbosity from the need to make yourself feel better. The need to assuage your own feelings of guilt. Save it. It's actions that matter, not words.

Try "I'm sorry."

To all who've given their all for my country, all I can say is a simple "Thank you." Because there aren't words that make loss and pain go away. Nothing can bring back the lost or right the wrong or change the world.

Say less; mean more.

Leave it at, "Thank you."
