Groggy, I've been fascinated by your Five Year Plan for the last eight years!
I hope you've enjoyed my last two long form articles, on The Wind and the Lion and Nelson Rockefeller, respectively. Normally I'd try submitting articles like these on other sites, but my two previous publishers are a no-go right now.I published nearly a review a day in March. I enjoyed it, but the depressingly high ratio of mediocre films to good ones burned me out. For the near-future, I may focus on long form pieces. This means articles less frequently, but hopefully more detailed and interesting ones. To wit:
- Long-form pieces on movies, likely ones that I've already reviewed. Historical or politically-charged movies, a bonus. Difficult productions, certainly. Probably nothing new on Lawrence of Arabia, that topic's been pretty well-covered.
- Possibly, more historical articles like the Rockefeller piece. While I try avoiding politics, our current election cycle makes it impossible to escape the topic. And believe me, it's better to write about 1960s Republicans than the horror show unfolding in real life.
This doesn't mean there won't be any regular reviews sprinkled in occasionally. Or that this will be the blog's long-term direction beyond April. Still, I felt I should warn any regulars who might be turned off by topics beyond Gary Cooper movies or the latest Zack Snyder excretion.
Thanks for reading. These past few months have been rough, and I appreciate everyone who takes the time to read my posts or comment.
