Tim Flanagan – Author

This gentleman seems to be a functioning nut-case, and to write books.

The blog is an eclectic mix, as you would expect from someone rejected by alien kidnappers in his childhood. One so rarely gets over such rejection.

Mitchell is Moving

I’m an unpublished writer (well, published once, but really no use mentioning) and I began my blog while planning a permanent move from California to Southern Spain — applying for visas, studying Spanish, finding a place to live. We lived in Sevilla for nearly 2 years and now live in Málaga. I’ve lived all over the United States and the blog quickly became a place for me to share all my stories — some comic, some tragic, all life-informing — of two people always on the move. I’m gay, partnered for 32 years, legally married for 3-1/2. I grew up in NYC. My partner grew up in South Dakota. Our “foreign-ness” even to each other can be confusing and entertaining. He’s descended from centuries of kings and queens and enjoys white bread in a bowl smothered in Coca Cola.

Third recommendation:

Mitchell and his husband, Jerry (often referred to as San Geraldo), are Americans who have moved around quite a bit. They are now living near Málaga, Spain (in Fuengirola, on the coast), after a few years in Sevilla, Spain. Mitchell writes with self-deprecating humor –and great wit– about the culture and language and food experiences he and Jerry experience as they go through daily life (with plenty of great photos and often a carefully-chosen YouTube video from some long-ago song or jingle he makes reference to). Their charming cats, Moose and Dudo, make frequent appearances in the stories we are treated to on Mitchell’s lovely and informative blog. It’s a great read– always uplifting, never snide, full of cultural blurbs and glimpses of life in Spain. Mitchell reads all of his comments, and his replies to each are just as thoughtful and lovely as his blog content.

The Owl Wood

Very cleverly and intelligently written, entertaining, and often moving blog by a writer/photographer. His photography is old-style. His writing is unusual and at times stream-of-consciousness, but always interesting.

Living the life in Saint-Aignan (Day by Day in France’s Loire Valley)

Ken Broadhurst is an American who moved to France’s Loire Valley about ten years ago, after decades as a major Francophile, working as an editor and translator in the software and magazine worlds of D.C., and San Francisco, which he turned to after several years living and working in Paris.  Ken writes about his full and interesting life, especially treating us to his experiences creating wonderful fresh French meals, usually from his bountiful back-yard garden. Though Ken is clearly a foodie, he is also extremely knowledgeable about historic and cultural topics, often writing very interesting informative posts about wines of the region, architectural styles of various areas of France, and the ins-and-outs of French food marketing (did you know that there are several ratings of chickens out there in France??). Ken’s blog is filled with excellent photos, and is always a treat to read.

Vanessa-Jane Chapman

Vanessa Chapman is one of the writers of the Limebirds writers’ blog, but her personal blog is one of most entertaining around.  She doesn’t overload you with posts, but whatever she posts never fails to be amusing, and sometimes downright hilarious.  Strongly recommended.

Colline’s Blog

Colline is a lovely Lady who has lived in various countries and describes herself as follows:

I am made up of all the adjectives used to describe me, the experiences that have formed me, and the thoughts that flow through me when I read and react to what is happening in my surroundings. My blog is an expression of who I am; a potpourri of my experiences, thoughts, and feelings. I look forward to getting to know who you are as I share what I am.

Colline’s is a General Blog full of all sorts of things and I have not found anything on it to disturb my sense of quiet enjoyment when I browse through her articles
