When three best friends come up with a sex pact and decide to lose their virginity on Prom Night, they thought everything would be smooth and carefree. Until their parents find out about it and decide to try to stop them.
I have no good explanation on why I actually decide to watch this film on Sky Cinema as I avoided seeing it at the actual cinema on the release. I can fully understand why I decided to miss it at the cinema.
It is a truly awful film.
I guess that can easily be worked out when you find out the parents are trying to stop their daughters from losing their virginity. I mean come on the poster even has a cock on it! You know cock blocker? But I guess that makes it all even worse.
In a comedy you want to laugh at things not be disgusted by the manner in which they try to make you laugh though. That is another problem with this film that it doesn't actually have any funny moments. Just awkward and why on earth moments. I guess this is not what you want to see in a comedy film.
The girls Julie, Kayla and Sam are all at different stages in their teenage lives. The pact doesn't really work out the way they had planned. As when the moment comes they each have a different view on what it is. Julie was the only one that truly knew it was right for her. So I will give the film a tiny little bit of credit for having the girls decide it was not right and everything working out in different ways. Can Sam eventually admit that she is a lesbian as well? I guess that was another important part of the film.
If the film had actually focused more on the girls I probably would have enjoyed it more. I have begun to notice something that seems to make me not like a comedy film and that Leslie Mann, I am not a fan of the character she seems to be typecast as always irritating and annoying. (Maybe that's just her voice?) I am not sure but I have never liked anything she has done. So maybe that factor did not help at all, I just don't find her funny or anything.
A film to avoid (I am shocked to see it has 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so maybe I totally missed the point with this film?). If you have seen it, let me know your thoughts on it!
