BlizzCon 2018 Tickets Sell Out

This past week saw a lot of gamers battling for tickets to the 12th Annual BlizzCon, which will be in Anaheim, California on November 2nd & 3rd this year.  

The first batch of tickets were released last Wednesday, which sold out in ten minutes.  The second bath were sold out in right under ten minutes on Saturday morning. Even if you were in the queue since tickets became available, like me, you’re not guaranteed tickets.  So, if like me, you didn’t snag a coveted ticket for the event coming later this year there’s still two ways to take some part in the event. Overwatch with certainly be huge again this year since it’s Blizzard’s only game on both computer and console platforms and opens up for far more players; but this year’s event won’t be as huge of a pull, for example, for World of Warcraft players since the Battle for Azeroth expansion will be dropping on August 14th (so there won’t be a new expansion announced until Blizzcon 2019 at the very earliest).  However, there will still definitely be things for players from all games including Hearthstone, Diablo, Starcraft, and Heroes of the Storm as well.

The first is to try to get the tickets via the pre-BlizzCon dinner which benefits CHOC (Children’s Hospital of Orange County), not only do these tickets get you into the benefit dinner but you also will gain admission to BlizzCon.  There are only 275 tickets set aside for this and unlike the $199 price on the regular tickets it costs $750 per ticket.  

For those of us who simply can’t afford the benefit dinner tickets, there’s another option that won’t allow you to be at the con in person, but you’ll still get benefits of it…the Virtual Ticket.  Last year was the first time I was introduced to the wonders of this and it comes bundled with all con tickets for BlizzCon but you can also buy it separately if you can’t attend in person, it’s something that I really hope that more cons will look into and perhaps try.  Last year I believe it was about $40 which is not bad for just the in-game goodies. The BlizzCon Virtual ticket gives you access to all events and interviews going on at BlizzCon from the comfort of their home computer or the app on their phone. Every single thing is streamed and recorded, so if you can’t watch live you can go back and watch it when you have the time.  It will also allow you to buy from the BlizzCon store and have stuff shipped to you, I believe you can also get a discount off of the backpack goody bag that attendees receive as part of their ticket price.

If you have the money, get the benefit tickets, not only will you get to go to BlizzCon but you’ll be giving to a children’s hospital that does a lot of good.  If you can’t afford the benefit tickets or you just can’t travel, take it easy and buy the Virtual Ticket (I know that’s what I’ll be doing).
