‘Black Lightning’ is a Show That is Must See

When Black Lightning premiered mid-season on The CW last season we all were not expecting to see a hero show we all needed.

I’m going to be the first to admit when The CW announced yet another DC Comic superhero show I groaned.  I am not going to say I was wrong.  Black Lightning was a show we all needed and didn’t know we needed.  Cress Williams (Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning) gives a performance that sucks you in way before the halfway mark of the pilot.

But really the acting in the show is just half of the work.  The truly amazing part of everything Black Lightning has to offer is the writing.  The writers on this show were able to show what is going on in a city like this and even bring in a national issue like race.  What was done so well was that that issue wasn’t the main focus of the whole show.

Really no actor/actress gave a bad performance.  You were able to somehow relate to all of the characters even the main evil guy Tobis Whale who was played by Marvin ‘Krondon’ Jones III.  That just shows the writing of this show was done very well.  Black Lightnings writing really made me feel like it was something like Arrow Season One or Two.

Like I said at the start of this article Black Lightning was a mid-season show so it was only scheduled to do 13 episodes in a season.  I have to say every episode was so well done I didn’t feel like it was dragging.  The key to having to do that is maybe only having 13 episodes in a season and needing to make sure every minute they had was used wisely.  Whatever the case was on making sure every episode was must see The CW was able to have another hit on their hands.

Black Lightning was picked up for another season and is set to debut on Tuesday, October 9th at 9/8p.  The sophomore season to this show is set to only have another 13 episodes.  Of course, at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con the network did have a sizzle reel but it didn’t show anything new.  In fact, it was really just a recap of what happened in season one.  I have to say I think the show will do amazing with another season.

Take a look at the sizzle Reel below and let us know what you thought of season one or what you hope to see in season two in the comments.
