Does January 21 feel too early to discuss Valentine’s Day? Probably, but I’m going there anyways
Valentine’s Day at our house isn’t much of a big deal…we don’t get all spiffed up and go out on a date, or exchange gifts. Our little tradition is to cook up a nice meal, one which is a bit fancier than normal, and enjoy it together.
Last year, we worked together to cook up this Seared Duck Breast with Cherry Port Sauce. It took a bit longer than our normal dinner routine, and Kai {4 months at the time} was surprisingly calm and happy, playing in his exersaucer while we were cooking.
But the moment we sat down to enjoy this wonderful meal, ‘waaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!’ Sure enough, we had hit the limits of the food/tiredness continuum and Kai had a complete and utter meltdown. So I put down my fork, fed Kai, put him to bed, and eventually returned to my cold meal.
