Bishop Curry Discuss Royal Wedding Sermon With GMA’s Robin Roberts [VIDEO]

Bishop Curry has been making his media rounds after preaching a memorable message on the “Power of Love” at Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding on Saturday.

On Tuesday’s Good Morning America, the Bishop discussed the moment he was asked to preach at the wedding, and the significance of him, a Black clergyman preaching at St. George’s Chapel for a royal wedding.

Curry, who is the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church,  shared with co-host,  Robin Roberts that he thought his invite to preach at the royal wedding was an April Fool’s joke.

“It was the decision of the couple, but they were in consultation both with the Archbishop of Canterbury and with the Dean of St. George’s and I’m sure others as well,” he recounted to Good Morning America, adding, “I got a phone call, and I didn’t believe it, because a member of my staff called and said, ‘They’d like you to preach at the royal wedding,’ and I said, ‘Get out of here it’s April Fools. You’ve got to be kidding me.’ And it was actually true.”

Robin then got serious with the Bishop about the historical meaning of #1 him preaching at the royal wedding, and #2  Meghan marrying into the royal family.

Robin Roberts: “It can not be lost on you, and African American clergymen there in that church, the mother of the bride, an African American woman, and her daughter is about to marry a Prince, whose grandmother is the Queen of England, is there as well, did the gravitas of the moment sink into you as well?”

Curry: “I was very aware of it, here is the thing about it, the love between those two people, between that royal couple, was so powerful, not only did we all show up, but it brought all these different worlds together.
