Listed as Least Concern species on the IUCN red list, also known as Indian whistling duck, a largely resident species across freshwater wetland in southeast asia and india subcontinent. You may often find them in lakes, paddy fields, riverbanks and sometimes coastal areas. They mainly feeds on plants from wetlands, grains from cultivated rice, small fishes, frogs and worms.
