Story: Bird Box Barcelona starts as we meet Sebastian (Casas) traveling around an empty city with his daughter Anna (Howard). The events have spread, and the few survivors do what they can to survive. After he meets a small group of survivors, we get to learn what he is really doing searching the streets.
Along the way, he meets Claire (Campbell) and another group of survivors from around Europe. They have information about a new safe location and decide to come together to reach it. However, Sebastian must battle his own demons to decide what to do.
Verdict on Bird Box Barcelona
Bird Box Barcelona is a horror sci-fi movie taking us back into the world of Bird Box. This time we head to Europe for the same sort of adventure with a spin on everything. We follow one of the survivors who is on their own mission during the events.
This is a movie that faces the same problems as the previous movie. The same problems unfold where despite the human factors, we end up with the same panicked dumb mistakes. However, the one saving grace of the movie is following the story from the perspective of someone trying to ‘save’ the survivors. It becomes interesting as we wait to see what he might do next. Even though, no real answers about anything going on happen. This ends up feeling more like a cheap cash-in sequel that doesn’t bring enough fresh ideas to the table.
Where to Watch: Bird Box Barcelona is available on Netflix now.
Final Thoughts – Bird Box Barcelona is a disappointing and lacklustre sequel.
