Story: Big Gold Brick starts when fledging writer Samuel Liston (Cohen) finds himself in a hard place. He finds himself on a road a night when enigmatic middle-aged man Floyd Deveraux (Garcia) hits him with his car. This leads to the pair making an unlikely friendship when Floyd asks Samuel to write his autobiography.
Floyd invites Samuel to be part of his family, which leads to him learning all about the stories of his life. Some of these are elaborated for extra interest while being a lot less interesting when diving into the truth.
Verdict on Big Gold Brick
Big Gold Brick is a comedy following an unlikely friendship between two men. They meet in a freak accident and end up working together on an autobiography. However, things start to spiral out of control, as they go on wild adventures.
This is a comedy that doesn’t seem to hit the laughs it wants to,. It ends up feeling flat and awkward more than anything else. There is no spark between the two leads and by the end of the movie you will be wishing you had skipped it.
Final Thoughts – Big Gold Brick is a laugh less comedy missing the spark.
