Story: Big George Foreman starts as we look at the early life of George Foreman. It shows his mother worked every day to make sure they had food on the table. While he struggled in school, he takes a role in the military to help set himself straight in life. Here, his ill-discipline catches up with him, until Doc Broadus (Whitaker) takes him under his wing and introduces him to boxing.
Once George (Davis) understood how to box, he went onto win an Olympic Gold before deciding to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, a near-death experience takes away part of his dreams to be the best ever. But, will he let that stop him from becoming one of the greatest of all time?
Verdict on Big George Foreman
Big George Foreman is a biographical drama following the life of legendary boxer George Foreman. It dives into his difficult childhood before finding focus in boxing. However, his career takes a dramatic turn once he hits the top of the world.
This is a nice biopic which dives into the life of the great boxer. It highlights the biggest moments of his life and career which is often overshadowed by Muhammad Ali. This does show how somebody who was once on top of the world can have it all taken from them. However, it shows how much he does to turn his life around again. The performances are strong but in the world of plenty of boxer biopics, they don’t hit the very best levels.
Final Thoughts – Big George Foreman is a great biopic filled with emotional turmoil.
