Big Companies Responsible for the Biggest Social Media Failures

Posted on the 11 March 2013 by Georgestevens @Nebstone

Everything that involves the media is bounded to succeed, fail or fall somewhere in-between the other two options. This is especially true for marketing campaigns, as some can be winners while others are nothing but losers. They’re either a success with their intended audience, or they end up being a big enough mess that they require a company apologizing to their customers.

Some of the best media campaigns in recent years have involved the smart usage of social media. Things like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and any other website where users congregate to share potentially viral marketing campaigns have been the main place where companies have seen tons of success.

On the other hand, social media has also been one of the places where some companies have experienced a great deal of criticism and backlash. Efforts that were meant to help their business succeed only gave people the opportunity to express their opinions and criticism of some of the most well-known companies. Giants that hundreds of millions of people interact with each day like McDonald’s have made some of the biggest social media mistakes.
