Ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala said the Bandaranaike International Airport has recorded Rs.26 billion in income in 2023 after suffering a loss of Rs.four billion in 2022.
He pointed out that the government has taken measures to improve the facilities of the airport, including the installation of modern communication equipment and radar. The minister says that there is passenger traffic congestion in Katunayake, Bandaranaike International Airport, and accordingly, steps have been taken to build the second terminal of the airport with a concessional loan from the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA).
