A woman was arrested by airport security department officers yesterday (4) morning after trying to take out four parcels
of gold in gel form worth Rs.100 million out of the Katunayake airport by hiding it on her, a senior officer of the security department said.
This 24-year-old girl is an employee of a shop selling beauty products at the Katunayake airport’s duty-free shopping complex.
A group of airport security officers saw the incident through airport security cameras and arrested the woman while she was leaving the airport at around 08.45 in the morning yesterday (4) with the four parcels weighing over 5 kgs. This young woman and the gold gel stock that has been arrested and handed over to the Katunayake airport Customs officials for further investigations.
