Bhai Ji Dhaba, Golf Course Road, Gurgaon

By Rohit Dassani

Bhai Ji Dhaba also known as Bhai Ji Restaurant on Golf Course Road is a road side settlement just behind the bustling highrise’s of Gurgaon. The place is very famous among the office-goers of Golf Course road and near-by residents. Most of the orders at Bhai Ji Restaurant/Dhaba are for pick-ups or delivery. The seating is simple with plastic chairs and wooden or plastic tables. The place is huge from inside and has a wooden wall all around. The center is a hut shaped house.

The place is amazing during the winters but would be unbearable during the summers as they don’t have air-conditions. But having said that we enjoyed seating in a peaceful and green environment (not to mention the dust from the Golf Course Road). We quickly ordered the food. We had the Navratan Korma and the Yellow Dal with Tandoori Roti and Aloo Paratha. A bowl of green chutney and pickled onions were complimentary. The piping hot food came quickly in about 15minutes. The Navratan Korma was fantastic, the sweet curry had a cashew gravy with loads of Pineapple and Panner along with other vegetables. The Yellow Dal was also delicious. The taste would just replicate as of another Dhaba in remote India.

The Aloo Paratha was soft with loads of stuffing. But we were let down by a hair in the Tandoori Roti. We had to change the roti. We then ordered the Vegetable Pulao and roasted Papad’s. The Vegetable Pulao was oily and had eggy-smell but the taste was ok. Probably made in the same utensil as some other egg-items. The Pulao had Panner, cauliflower, peas and other vegetables.

The service was as in a Dhaba were the waiters are damn busy due to so many orders. But with the good food I wouldn’t complain.

The Scorecard:-

Food/Taste – 8/10
Service – 7/10
Value for Money – 7/10
Ambiance – 7/10
Quantity – 7/10
Quality – 6/10

Overall Rating is 7/10.

The food was delicious except for a glitch but would love to visit the place again. The place was unexpected as one of the hidden wanderlust of Gurgaon.
