Everything we have and are come from God the Father. As our Eternal Father and Creator, He made us, provided and continues providing for us, continually looking out for our welfare even when we omit to do so ourselves. In repayment, however, we neglected, marginalized, ostracized, forgot and abandoned our Father for centuries and this, not least, by some of His own people; those supposed to know Him best and be closest to Him. We treated and continue to treat our Father as significantly less than mere acquaintances whom we encounter in our daily lives, despite all the erudite stories we come up with to rationalize and justify such behavior.
We turn to Him when we need Him: when everything and everyone else fail us. Then after our Father grants us the desires of our hearts out of the infinite mercy of His Divine Heart, seemingly without fail we forget all about Him once again; kicking our tender, sweet, and loving Father to the curb as though He does not exist. We constantly relegate Him to the back burner, assigning Him the role of ‘grace dispenser’ to whom we have recourse solely in times of need. We use Him and abuse Him while experiencing little-to-no guilt and shame. Hence this begs the question: “How would you feel when someone uses or abuses you?”
We were made to be our Father’s children. But to the extent we continue to persist in enacting all of the above, we are not truly our Father’s children for we do not behave as such. We are unfilial to the extreme, ungrateful and self-centered at best; consumed without end by inordinate self-love despite ongoing denial of such facts. We chronically prefer to give primacy to ourselves rather than to Whom such primacy belongs, failing in our ‘erudition’ to realize that if we placed our Father first in all things, everything else would fall into place in our lives with great simplicity and ease. Despite the aforementioned betrayals, however, which we insist on inflicting upon the sensitive, tender Divine Heart of our Father, He continues without abatement to desire our filial companionship and love. Thus let us stop betraying the true nature of both our Father and ourselves, by starting to love with our whole hearts the one, true Father of all.
